Kelly Behun Launches a Shopping Site Featuring Her Favorite Makers

It is impossible to replicate the experience of entering a traditional, Robert A.M. Stern Architects–designed Upper East Side facade that leads to a supremely inviting interior designed by Kelly Behun. But for those unable to visit the Kelly Behun Living Gallery—the second iteration of the AD100 designer’s concept galleries, now on view at 1228 Madison Avenue—Behun has launched an e-commerce platform highlighting the custom, collectible, and in-stock pieces featured throughout the model residence.

Like Behun’s own design aesthetic, the online site’s curation includes a high-low mix. Pieces from Behun’s collections with Hudson Valley Lighting and The Rug Company sit alongside accessories from L’Objet, fixtures from Sunshine Thacker, and ceramics from Hostler Burrows. The designer’s picks from Gucci Decor, Jonathan Adler, and Anthropologie, among others, also make the cut.

Mellyn, Dvorkin, & Monrow Art Consultants (MDM) collaborated in gathering the gallery’s art collection, featuring works by Dashiell Manley (above), Ellsworth Kelly, and Anish Kapoor, among others.

“It’s always been about the mix for me,” Behun tells AD PRO. “As long as things are well designed and executed and they harmonize in a beautiful way, that’s what really matters. Good design exists at many price points.”

The Living Gallery, a full-floor, four-bedroom residential concept with views overlooking the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir in Central Park, makes Behun’s point crystal clear. Setting out to create a home that is sophisticated as well as comfortable, the designer emphasized rich, tactile elements throughout the space. “We always want to be chic—that’s a given, but now more than ever with people spending so much time at home, it’s about finding ways to layer in more comfort.”
